Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 September 2026

This page explains what information this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.

Who is responsible

This website is operated by Georgina Owino. If you have any question about your data, or want to exercise any of the rights described below, write to hello@georginaowino.com and Georgina will respond personally.

What this site collects

1. The contact form

When you use the form on the contact page, the details you enter — your name, your email address and your message — are emailed to Georgina and also stored in this website’s database so that enquiries are not lost.

Why: to reply to you. Legal basis: your consent, given by sending the form.

2. The newsletter sign-up

When you subscribe through the form on the home page, this site stores your email address, your IP address and the date and time of the subscription.

The IP address is recorded to help identify automated and abusive sign-ups. Legal basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by writing to hello@georginaowino.com, and your record will be deleted.

3. Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. It sets cookies in your browser and sends information — including a truncated version of your IP address, your approximate location, your browser and the pages you visit — to Google.

Google acts as a data processor and may transfer this information outside your country. You can read Google’s privacy policy, and you can opt out entirely using Google’s browser add-on.

4. Spam protection on the contact page

The contact page uses Google reCAPTCHA v3 to tell people apart from automated scripts. It collects information about your device and behaviour on that page and sends it to Google, subject to Google’s privacy policy and terms of service.

reCAPTCHA is loaded only on the contact page, not across the rest of the site.

5. Server logs

Like nearly every website, the hosting server records each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested and your browser type. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting, and are rotated and deleted by the hosting provider in the normal course.

What this site does not do

  • Your data is never sold, rented or traded.
  • There is no advertising and no advertising tracker on this site.
  • The guided meditations are free to stream, download and read in full without giving any email address.
  • Nothing you share in a session, a retreat or an email is published, quoted or passed on.

How long it is kept

  • Contact enquiries: kept while the conversation is useful, and deleted on request.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: kept until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed.
  • Analytics: retained by Google according to the property’s retention setting.
  • Server logs: rotated by the hosting provider.

Who else is involved

  • Google — Analytics and reCAPTCHA, as described above.
  • The hosting provider — stores the website and its database, including anything submitted through the forms.

No one else receives your information.

Your rights

Wherever you are, and particularly if you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you have the right to:

  • Ask what is held about you, and receive a copy.
  • Correct anything inaccurate.
  • Have it deleted.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, including for the newsletter.
  • Object to processing, or ask that it be restricted.
  • Complain to the data protection authority in your country if you believe something has gone wrong.

To exercise any of these, email hello@georginaowino.com. No particular form of words is needed, and there is no charge.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. This site uses them in two places: Google Analytics, to recognise returning visits, and reCAPTCHA on the contact page.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Doing so will not stop you reading anything here or listening to the meditations.

Children

Georgina writes books for children, but this website and the practice it describes are addressed to adults. The site does not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information here, write to hello@georginaowino.com and it will be deleted.

A note on what this work is

Contemplative practice as offered here is not clinical therapy, and nothing shared through this site forms a clinical record. If you are working with a mental health provider, that relationship and its records stay entirely with them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. Anything significant will be flagged on the page rather than slipped in quietly.
